to Become a pilot

Do you want to start flight training but are not sure about your English level?  I am here to help.

My name is Daniel Pickens and I am an international airline pilot.  I also used to work as an EFL teacher as well as a flight instructor.  I used to help people in your situation.

Let me help you with your English as you start your pilot school.

Make ENglish Easy

Relax.  You are smart enough and able to learn ICAO English too.  With my help we will have you able to communicate smoothly with air traffic control and with your flight instructor.

We first will assess your English level using the ICAO proficiency levels.  From there we will make a plan to help you with your English.

We can focus on helping you become proficient for an FAA pilot school in America or for your first ICAO level 4 assessment.

You will see improvements right away and will impress your flight instructor.  Speaking of flight instructor...

Work with a certified flight instructor

I am also a certified flight instructor with a gold seal.  This means that I have helped many students with success.  I want you to succeed too.

I can not just help you with your English:  I can also help you pass your aviation courses.  Even better...you can take my course to help you become a private pilot or commercial pilot.

Melbourne flight training

I used to work as a certified flight instructor for a part 141 company in Florida called "Melbourne Flight Training."  If you are looking to go to the United States to become a pilot then I will tell you how this school can make your dream a reality.

Want to work specifically on your ICAO test or passing the FAA English exam?  I have helped students with their English to get hired at airline jobs.  I can help you too.

Take an online course with me or a more tailored lesson

Are you serious about having your English proficient for aviation?  Then take a course with me and we will make sure you can communicate with ATC and other pilots confidently and competently.

what makes you different?

You will find either two types of teachers: experienced EFL Teachers or former airline pilots.

As you can imagine, most EFL teachers are not pilots.  They know the English required and can teach it to you but they cannot give you the practical experience that comes with learning aviation English.

I can make sure that you are also competent in the current terminology used today in the ATC world because I fly internationally all the time.

Then you also have airline pilots.  Most pilots that teach ICAO English are not former EFL teachers.  They know the material but do not know how to properly teach it because they lack the decade of experience that I have.

So imagine having a pilot who is used to speaking with relatively competent individuals.  They have a hard time trying to understand the main reasons why you are struggling.  In fact they might not even want to understand why and will just follow a standard book's pace.  This might work but it cannot guarantee the results you want.

Yes some of the ICAO teachers are experienced and amazing aviators but this in fact makes them worse EFL teachers.  To give you what you need to succeed at this your teacher must have enough practical experience to teach but not so much that the teacher is far above you.

Finally - not only do you have an experienced EFL teacher who is also an airline pilot, but I currently fly internationally and deal with ICAO English constantly.  I am also a current and certified flight and ground instructor which means that I am also current on the issues you are facing.

Maintain your ICAO English proficiency

Maybe you are already competent enough in aviation English and only want to make sure that you maintain your skillset.  If that's the case then we can also keep your English proficient for your next ICAO exam.

Even better - we can work on the changes that constantly happen in the ATC environment with regards to the English language.   We can also work on helping you understand the regional dialects before your next flight there whether it be to an American airport like Chicago (ORD) or an Indian airport like Delhi (DEL.). I'm sure you're familiar with what I'm talking about. ;-)
